Become one of the 'characters' that supports Edheads!

Do you want to gain marketing, communications and sales skills this fall and winter? Ready to show off your abilities and gain work experience employers are looking for? We’re looking for an organized, independent, self-motivated college junior or senior who will value the growth gained from contacting school districts, parent/teacher organizations, and parent publications and websites nationwide to help sell memberships and establish partnerships for Edheads. All of this is to generate awareness of the Edheads brand with the existing audience of schools and teachers, and reach a new audience of parents with children ages 6-12.

During this internship, you will volunteer to work approximately 3-5 hours a week (or more, if you can!) with the Executive Director and Board Marketing Strategist to contact:

1. School district science and math curriculum coordinators to make them aware of Edheads and see if they will sign up for a district membership;

2. Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs) to establish marketing partnerships where they promote Edheads and they get $3 back for every membership sold;

3. Parent publications and websites to establish media partnerships. We’re appealing to parents of students ages 6-12 for the first time and trying to build this audience from the ground up. This means you’ll get the chance to collaborate with the Edheads team to produce, strategize and build content for the partnerships that you help establish.

Wouldn’t you love to see the direct results of your efforts as you acquire members and agreements to promote Edheads to PTOs and on websites and in print publications? To put your content in front of thousands of readers, students and teachers?

This is a great learning opportunity to show off your skills, develop a portfolio for the future, and help us make a difference in the world. You can:

  • Gain substantial professional experience and exposure to niche marketing and publications

  • Create and implement creative marketing strategies that are low or no cost (come armed with ideas and you just may get to implement them!)
    Learn outreach and follow-up techniques for making sales calls and contacting publications/websites (e.g., phone calling, email)

You would be responsible for:

  • Contacting and establishing publication/website content editors

  • Content creation and distribution to support the partnerships you have developed

  • Creation of internal editorial calendars and planning documents

  • Monitoring and analyzing results of your own efforts

  • Making content suggestions and revisions

  • Working with the Executive Director and Board Marketing Strategist and other interns to coordinate communication, social media presence and marketing to a new audience

  • Must be currently enrolled, or a recent graduate from, an undergraduate program in a related field

  • Passionate about helping nonprofits succeed at marketing with nominal budgets

  • Strong project management skills. You'll need to prioritize competing workflows and timelines and communicate well with internal and external partners.

  • Excellent command of the English language; -- we can’t emphasize this enough!. We pride ourselves on clear communication using direct language that speaks to the audience.
