The Board of Alliance Francaise in Vermont is embarking on a search for a new Board Member to join us in the coming months. The person selected will join a dynamic and supportive Board of individuals from broad and diverse backgrounds and skills. It is the Board's hope that the new member selected eventually will replace Victoria Brassart-Jones when she steps down from the President's role. Victoria would like to step down from the role at the end of the year in order to have more time to focus on her work position and her family; she has agreed to stay on the Board and she also has agreed that, when the right person is selected, she will continue as President long enough to ensure the new person is comfortable in the role and that there is a smooth transition for Alliance. Accordingly, we are actively starting our search; and if any of you are interested in the role, we ask that you email a Resume or CV, together with a paper setting forth your vision as a Board Member/President for the organization and how you would seek to accomplish it. All Resumes or CVs, together with the vision paper, should be emailed no later than May 28 to Victoria: victoria@aflcr.org. After receiving the above, the Board will set brief meetings, which we currently expect to occur in the months of June and July, with all interested candidates. The Board will recommend a candidate sometime after all of the candidates have been met and discussed by the entire Board. The President's role is a non-paying "labor of love" for Alliance. As demonstrated by Victoria, it requires tremendous amounts of enthusiasm and energy, as well as the need to be a self starter with a strong vision for how to continue to move Alliance forward into the future. Thus, the willingness to give freely of your own time is essential to the role. Further, the role requires poise, diplomacy, and the ability to interact well with diverse people of different backgrounds as the President represents Alliance on many occasions in multi-cultural public events.
