Atlas Corps seeks graduate-level, entrepreneurial-focused volunteers to serve as reviewers and/or interviewers for an exciting Presidential Initiative. Volunteers will collaborate with Atlas Corps on a Presidential and State Department program called the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI).

YLAI Overview: Announced in 2015 by President Obama, YLAI is a collaboration between the State Department, Meridian International, Entrepreneur’s Organization, and Atlas Corps. YLAI will bring 250 young entrepreneurs and civil society leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean to the U.S. on a 5-week fellowship to transform their societies and contribute more fully to economic and social development in their countries.

Volunteer Opportunity: Support YLAI as an Applicant Reviewer. Responsibilities include:

  • Application readers will be responsible for reading and evaluating 30-40 applications over a three-week period in May - June 2016

  • Applicant interviewers will be responsible for interviewing (remotely) and evaluating 20-25 semifinalists over a two week period in June - July 2016

  • You can do either activity or both!

Mission Statement

Mission: To address critical social issues, Atlas Corps develops leaders, strengthens organizations and promotes innovation through an overseas fellowship of skilled professionals.

Description

Atlas Service Corps, Inc. (Atlas Corps), started in 2006, is an international network of nonprofit leaders and organizations that promotes innovation, cooperation, and solutions to address the world's 21st century challenges. Our mission is to address critical social issues by developing leaders, strengthening organizations, and promoting innovation through an overseas fellowship of skilled nonprofit professionals. Profiled as a "best practice" in international exchange by the Brookings Institution and featured in the Washington Post as a model social entrepreneurship program, Atlas Corps engages leaders committed to the nonprofit sector in 12 to 18 month, professional fellowships at organizations to learn best practices, build organizational capacity, and return home to create a network of global changemakers.

Method: Atlas Corps facilitates overseas fellowships for the best of the world's rising leaders. They volunteer at outstanding organizations addressing social issues and are enrolled in an ongoing training program. After 12 or 18 months, they return to their countries to work for at least one year (and usually their entire career) back in the nonprofit sector, sharing new skills, best practices, valuable experiences and a global network of changemakers.
