No human being should be left to feel isolated and alone during times of need. Yet all too often, people pull away. You can help by being a companion volunteer who provides compassion, presence and support to a person who is seriously ill, homebound or near the end of life.
Housecall Providers is an innovative health care provider offering primary-care house calls and hospice services to homebound seniors and people with disabilities throughout the Portland metro area. Volunteers visit patients to provide emotional support, caregiver respite and companionship. Individuals complete 4 comprehensive training sessions prior to making visits and receive ongoing education and support.
Our next training will take place at the Housecall Providers offices in the John's Landing area and sessions are as follows:
Monday 6/20/16 - 6pm to 9:30pm
Wednesday 6/22/16 - 6pm to 9:30pm
Monday 6/27/16 - 6pm to 9:30pm
Wednesday 6/29/16 - 6pm to 9:30pm
Volunteers must complete an application and interview prior to being accepted into training. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, pass a background check and two TB tests (provided by us) to participate in this opportunity. For more information or to schedule an interview, please contact: Todd Lawrence, Volunteer Coordinator, 971-202-5515, e-mail tlawrence@housecallproviders.org, or visit our website http://www.housecallproviders.org.
Individuals are encouraged to wait a year after the loss of a significant person before serving as a Home Hospice volunteer working with patients, families or caregivers.
