Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Safe Place for Youth is a non-profit that serves youth experiencing homelessness in West Los Angeles. We are looking for volunteers that are compassionate and dedicated so we can maintain a safe space for our youth. Our drop-in center, located in Venice, provides youth with critical resources including food, clothing, health and wellness, case management, and education and employment services. We are looking for volunteers that are compassionate and dedicated to help out at the drop-in center so we can maintain a safe space for our youth while providing access to essential resources.
On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays, we open our clothing closet for our youth.. Homelessness can come with psychological distress and being able to wear an outfit to be proud of goes a long way.
This opportunity entails organizing clothing, assisting youth while accessing the closet, and making sure the youth are served in a safe and structured way.
