Woodland Phlox in Bloom
With the garlic mustard removed, native flowers like this woodland phlox can thrive again!

The spring wildflowers are in full bloom! Come out and see them up close as you help hand pull the invasive weed garlic mustard. Brought here from Europe, garlic mustard will kill off our native grasses and flowers if left unchecked.

Spears Woods has towering oak woodlands, sun dappled savanna, sweeping prairies and steep ravines. Join us and you'll discover areas hidden from others as we'll be working off-trail in hidden corners.

We provide all tools and direction to ensure you have an enjoyable time. We'll have snacks and extra drinking water.

NOTE: to enter the Spears Woods picnic grove parking lot you must be going southbound on Rt. 45/La Grange Road. The entrance is between 87th and 95th streets.
