About

Bremerton High School Pay It Forward Scholarship group, a 5021c3 nonprofit organization, has opportunities for talented volunteers who share our passion to increase the likelihood of Bremerton youths' lifetime success by sending more low income BHS grads to college. Established in 2007, BHS PIF Scholarship has helped offer 18 students further education beyond high school by awarding large scholarships---currently $14,000 each. Each "PIF Scholar" must Pay It Forward by giving 60 hours of community service in order to keep their scholarship. This makes the BHS PIFS help the community as well as the individual.

Applicant must have own transportation to our Treasurer’s office in Silverdale where meetings are usually held monthly. Job entails taking minutes, helping to arrange meetings by calling or emailing members, providing accurate copies of minutes to members within one week of the meetings. Must be reliable, prompt and detail-oriented. Excellent spelling, and grammar required. Must be flexible, willing to learn our history and embrace the mission of BHS PIFS, "to increase Bremerton youths’ lifetime success through further education beyond high school and by Paying It Forward." Also desirable for applicant to join in occasional fundraising and mentoring events sponsored by BHS PIFS.

Position is unpaid as are all jobs with BHS Pay It Forward Scholarship. This makes it possible for us to use 97% of all donations directly for scholarships -a highly unusual (and desirable) rate of return for a nonprofit.

No more than 6 hours per month expected to be worked. We ask that you be willing to commit to volunteering for at least one year. May be job shared with one other volunteer, if requested. Working with BHS youth and other adult volunteers is highly satisfying & rewarding!
