Are you able to "treat a child as if he(she) is already the person he(she) is capable of becoming" (Ginott).? If so, the Mental Health Association of South Central KS, is looking for your super powers. Compeer is a national mentoring program hosted by MHA that serves the needs of those dealing with mental health issues (or who have a guardian dealing with Mental health issues). Currently we are recruiting for mentors for our Compeer Lunch Buddy program. Volunteers are trained in mentoring and mental health while polishing their super powers before they are matched with a student. Once matched they spend at least one hour a week at the students school during lunch/recess. Provide a child with a positive role model, mentor, and caring friend; be a Lunch Buddy and make a difference for you and them. *capes are optional.
