About

We are looking for volunteer college and career advisers for our Go Succeed program. Our College & Career Advisers are the main point of contact and means for change at for The College Factory. They plan and execute events and sessions related to post-secondary planning, related to college or workforce development. The adviser works one-on-one or in groups with students and families ensuring they understand the college admissions, financial aid, or career placement process. They support the organization’s mission of building college-going culture in the community by serving as chaperones on college tours, doing small events in the community and by organizing speakers and presenters for their caseload of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan creative and informative sessions related to college & career planning for program participants

  • Assist students in the development of a written college or career plan

  • Answers questions about the program and provides forms when necessary

  • Create innovative initiatives to reach students and families in the community.

  • Assist with the recruitment of high school aged participants into Go Succeed college access program

  • Record information from meetings with students and families that come in and enters them in the database

Benefits: Flexible work load, able to complete course related homework and assignments while at work. Ability to network with College Factory advisers, guests, and board. Gain experience in nonprofit and advisement related tasks and functions. Advisers will receive a College Access Certificate of Completion at the end of training

Requirements & Commitment

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • 2-3 days/week for up to 5 hours/day
  • Training provided; Prefer at least a 5 month commitment
