Duties include the following:

¨ Survey CEO and Adoption Coordinators regularly to assess needs for transporter assistance.

¨ Devise innovative transporter recruiting methods.

¨ Publicize transporter opportunities to the community.

¨ Proactively recruit and pre-screen then co-review transporter applications and co-interview transporter applicants (includes phone interviews) with Adoption Coordinators. This includes processing incoming transporter inquiries.

¨ Recruit, screen, select and train the Transport Coordinator's "right hand person" who can step in when the Transport Coordinator is unavailable (on vacation, at work, etc.)

¨ Within 24 hours of being notified by the Adoption Coordinator that a new dog(s) requires transport:

­ Acknowledge the Adoption Coordinator's notification

­ Identify transporter(s)

­ Contact the Facility to arrange transportation date/time, with the timing being mutually agreed upon by all 3 parties.

¨ Stay in close contact with the transporter(s) to ensure that the following transporter(s) expectations occur:

­ Upon Facility arrival, verify that all required paperwork, as described by the Adoption Coordinator, is in order.

­ Pick up and transport the rescue dog(s) and their belongings to the agreed upon location.

­ Stay in contact with other volunteers who may have another leg of the transport.

­ Transfer dog(s) and dog's belongings and paperwork to: 1) volunteer continuing transport; or 2) Foster; or 3) Adopter's home - whichever is applicable.

­ Submit all required paperwork to the Transport Coordinator (the last person in the transport leg)

­ Complete and submit Expense Report (if applicable) to the Transport Coordinator

¨ Submit all required paperwork to the Adoption Coordinator for review and approval.

¨ Ensure that the transporter program is sufficiently staffed at all times.

¨ Develop and maintain relationships with other Transport Coordinators/transporters within the areas and regions identified by the CEO and Adoption Coordinators.

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) Dog Rescue with a small but mighty team of volunteers who go to extraordinary lengths each and every day to:

  • Save dogs who are scheduled to be euthanized
  • Find adoptive homes for abused and discarded dogs including seniors, pregnant dogs and their pups
  • Match discarded senior dogs to Senior Citizens who are independent, live alone plus long for companionship
  • Match the right canines to PTSD adults and autistic children who need service dogs
  • Promote and advance our inmate/dog Prison Rehabilitation Program (L.E.C. Conneaut Prison)
  • Provide food and supplies to low income families (McKinley Outreach Center)
  • Assist Women Safe, a battered women's shelter, to protect both the women and their pets
