ORGANIZATION: STRIDES THERAPEUTIC HORSEMANSHIPCENTER

Strides Therapeutic Horsemanship Center is a non-profit organization that serves children and adults in the Tri-Cities region using horses. Strides is looking to expand our volunteer database to continue offering life-changing experiences to our community. We have become the largest therapeutic horsemanship center in the southeastern Columbia Basin region. Our hippotherapy program will be expanding to 35 clients in June while our adaptive riding program will reach at least 44 clients this summer alone.

Volunteer work consists of assisting during riding lessons and therapy sessions as a horse leader or a side walker, caring for horses (grooming, cleaning pens), building fences, training horses (if proper credentials are provided), and or serving as board members & committee members.

Mission Statement

Unlocking human potential by harnessing the power of a horse.

Description

Strides is a non-profit organization that strives to enhance the lives of people of all ages and disabilities. Riders come from throughout the Columbia Basin region to interact with their 1,000 pound "therapist" in a safe and secure environment while achieving goals they never before dreamed possible. Strides's focus is not on their limitations, but what they can do, and the results are extraordinary.

We rely on the critical support of our volunteers . Our programs would not be possible without the generosity of all these wonderful people. We encourage volunteers to work regularly with the same students, providing continuity and support for the rider and an opportunity for the volunteer to share in the rider’s accomplishments. Volunteers also help with events, fund development, administration and other activities.
