Charter Schools are guided by their own Governing Board, which is charged with the financial, organizational and academic viability of their school. Our Governing Board is changing towards a skill set based from our current representative based model (ie. staff, administration, parent, community). We hope this change will provide much needed skills and knowledge to better provide academic, organizational and financial governance for Nā Wai Ola Public Charter School. Towards that end, we are looking for potential members who bring any of the following:

1) Academic Oversight - Educational background and Charter School experience

2) Organizational Oversight (Governance and Law)

3) Financial Oversight (Accounting, Grant Writing, Event Planning, Title I)

4) Specialty Experience (Hawaiian Culture, Health and Safety, Security, Media & Public Relations)

Nā Wai Ola Public Charter School (NWOPCS) is an Agri-Science based learning community that is committed to bringing forth individual academic excellence with Hawaiian culture and values as the guiding principle. NWOPCS is located in Mountain View currently serving 209 students in grades K-6 and an additional 20 in the new pre-K program, who come from a wide geographical area ranging from lower Puna, Keaʻau , Kurtistown, Mountain View and up to Volcano.
