ORGANIZATION: Lenox Hill Neighborhood House

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, widely recognized as one of New York's premier human services providers, is a 122-year-old settlement house that provides an extensive array of effective and integrated services which significantly improve the lives of 20,000 people in need each year, ages 3 to 103 on the East Side of Manhattan. We are seeking volunteers who can become part of our meal service team in our Senior Center or Women's Shelter. Volunteers are needed on weekdays at the following times: 11:00am-12:30pm, 11:45am-1:00pm, 5:00pm-6:30pm and 5:15pm-6:30pm. Our clients include older adults, homeless and formerly homeless adults, children and families, recent immigrants, disabled persons, adult learners and thousands more. Description

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House was founded in 1894 by the Alumnae Association of Normal College (now known as Hunter College of the City University of New York) as a free kindergarten for the children of indigent immigrants. Since then, we have remained at the forefront of community advocacy and social and educational change.
