SeniorServ is looking for talented, compassionate people who want to help seniors stay independent in their homes. This opportunity is perfect for retired individuals who want to help their communities thrive.

Our organization recently adopted a program called Care Circles from Westchester New York. Living independently is difficult as a senior citizen if you have limited income and mobility with little to no family or friend support. Care Circles attempts to help make it easier to live independently by forming a circle of care around a senior. So rather than one family member or one volunteer shouldering all of the needs of a senior, a team of people divide these needs among them.

Each Care Circle is comprised of volunteer members who, under the coordination of the Care Circle Laision, join together to support the senior. For example: One member can take out the trash once a week. Another can help with meal preparation. While another member can help with pet care. Members can also run errands, help make phone calls to doctors offices, and assist the senior in setting up transportation. We request an one hour per week time comittment for at least 4 months.

Care Circles rely on volunteers who may be neighbors, friends, family members, student interns, or members of service clubs or houses of worship.

We have a senior living in a mobile home who needs help doing her laundry and yard work. She also needs someone to go to the grocery store for her. She has had artritis for most of her life and lives in chronic pain so every day tasks are very difficult for her.
