The Franklin Food Bank has partnered with Somerset County Master Gardeners to run a Community Farm Program on Canal Road. The 1 acre farm located in Franklin Twp.(not at the Food Bank warehouse location) is planted with vegetables that are then harvested to provide fresh, local produce to our food bank clients.
We are looking for volunteers to help plant, maintain and harvest! Volunteers from schools, civic groups, businesses, as well as families and individuals of all ages are welcome. Youth volunteers 17 and under are welcome if they are accompanied by an adult.
The program runs from June to October. Activities include planting, weeding and harvesting. There are usually volunteer opportunities mornings and afternoons 2-3 times a week Monday-Saturday.
Gardening experience is welcome, but not necessary.
Once you sign up a volunteer coodinator will be in contact with specific details including the location of the farm, dates and times.
