Provide additional reading support to a small group of 5th-8th grade scholars to help stop the "summer brain drain." Help make reading fun and engaging by reading aloud together, asking questions, and facilitating discussions. Higher Achievement will provide an online orientation and training session before you begin with our scholars.

Mission Statement
Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. We envision a world where all students' potential and promise is realized, regardless of their circumstances. Higher Achievement closes the opportunity gap during the pivotal middle school years. By leveraging the power of communities, Higher Achievement’s proven model provides a rigorous year-round learning environment, caring role models, and a culture of high expectations, resulting in college-bound scholars with the character, confidence, and skills to succeed.
Description
Higher Achievement is a non-profit organization that helps underserved middle-school students, referred to as "scholars", improve their grades, attendance, and standardized test scores, culminating in acceptance to top high schools in Baltimore. Higher Achievement delivers year-round, rigorous academic programming that yields outstanding outcomes.
During the scholars' four years in Higher Achievement, they study social-justice oriented curricula; work with mentors weekly; self select enriching elective courses; and participate in academic contests, university stays, and academic field trips. Higher Achievement's strong network of mentors is instrumental to the success of its program.
