Farmer’s Market Food Recovery Assistant
Each year, Central Illinois Foodbank rescues nutritious, local food from local Farmer’s Markets in Springfield, IL.
Help Central Illinois Foodbank by going to Farmer’s Markets to collect produce from individual donors and the market vendors. All food collected will be brought back to our facility. The food will be distributed to our agency partners to help feed hungry people.
Opportunity hours are Wednesday 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Central Illinois Foodbank's mission is to provide food, and develop awareness of and creative solutions for food insecurity.
Description
Central Illinois Foodbank, established in 1982 by a coalition of churches, distributes over 8.5 million pounds of food annually to over 150 food pantries, soup kitchens, residential programs and after-school programs in a 21 county region. Central Illinois Foodbank is a member of Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization, and is a United Way certified agency.
Central Illinois Foodbank currently operates a 56,000 square foot distribution facility located in Springfield, Illinois. Central Illinois Foodbank is also proud to operate the Kids Cafe program with Springfield Urban League. Kids Cafe is a nation-wide program through Feeding America that feeds children a hot, nutritious meal in a safe environment.
