There are many children under the supervision of the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department in need of a positive adult role model in their lives; someone who can assist them in making better choices and inspire positive change. Bexar County Juvenile Probation (JPD) is actively seeking to match eligible adults who are 21 years of age and older with youth with like hobbies, interests and activities. Our goal is to provide a stable, adult influence who is patient and kind. For many of the kids you might be the only positive role model in their lives
Description:
Have you ever known a young person who could benefit from a positive influence from a responsible adult? Do you ever wonder if positive attention and guidance from mentor could change the direction of an at-risk youth? Well, sign-up to become a mentor for a kid in on juvenile probation and your questions will be answered! As a volunteer mentor for the Juvenile Probation Department, you can be that supportive adult who will be able to encourage the child’s success with our department and in their future! Imagine also, how that child might change your life for the better.
JPD serves youth all over Bexar County, so there is likely you may be matched you with someone in your area. JPD serves youth between the ages of ten (10) and seventeen (17) years. The kids in the mentor program are also matched with someone of the same gender. All mentors must pass a background check, a motor vehicle record check, a mental assessment and must provide references.
