Neuberger Exhibition Tours
NMA Educators introduce Pre-Kindergarden students to the work of Louise Fishman.

Join a vibrant community of art lovers as a Neuberger Museum of Art volunteer docent! Be immersed in art history and educational philosophy, learn from Purchase College faculty and NMA staff, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the museum and its collection of over 7,000 works of contemporary, modern, Latin American, and African art. As the public face of the museum, NMA docents welcome and engage visitors by delivering in-depth, inquiry-based tours to our diverse audiences year-round.

The program, which is a privilege of museum membership, requires a two-year commitment and includes one year of training and one year of touring. Our training workshops take place every other Monday, September - May, from 10am - 2pm, and include curator talks, exhibition walkthroughs, presentations on pedagogy, and other content related to our artists and exhibitions

Learn more at our Docent Open House on Monday, May 23, 10:30am. For more information and to apply, contact nma.education@purchase.edu.

About Neuberger Museum of Art

Location:

735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase, NY 10577, US

Mission Statement

The Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase College, State University of New York, is the premier museum of modern, African, and contemporary art in the Westchester and Fairfield area. An outstanding arts and education institution, the Museum serves as an important cultural resource to its regional, national, and international audiences, and as an integral part of Purchase College.

Description

The NMA opened on the campus of Purchase College in 1974 with a core collection donated by Roy R. Neuberger, one of the twentieth-century's most important private art collectors, philanthropists, and arts advocates. The collection contains key works by some of America's best-known artists including Milton Avery, Romare Bearden, Willem de Kooning, Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keefe, and Jackson Pollack. Housed in a building designed by Philip Johnson, the permanent collection now houses more than 7,000 works of contemporary, modern, Latin American, and African art.

Today, the Neuberger is more active and vibrant than ever. The Museum's signature biannual award, The Roy R. Neuberger Exhibition Prize, recognizes the work of exceptional young artists, continuing our founder's dedication to supporting those in the early stages of their careers. A wealth of education tours, lectures, and interactive programs engage our broad and diverse community.
