Additionally, our low-cost spay/neuter clinic performed 2,493 surgeries, preventing thousands of pets from becoming homeless in the future. While the Shelter Helper role does not involve direct animal contact, Shelter Helpers play a critical role in ensuring SAS cats, dogs, and critters in our care thrive!

Role description:

This role supports all animals in the shelter by ensuring their kennels and cages are refilled with fresh bedding and toys every day. Duties include laundry and dish-washing (using industrial equipment) and preparing enrichment activities for SAS pets (fill kongs, food puzzles, etc).

Task examples include: laundry/kitchen support, preparing enrichment activities and supplies, tidying up the lobby and volunteer sign-in area. This role does not involve direct pet contact. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, bend, lift.

SAS volunteer orientation and equipment training required (washer/dryer).

Time commitment: One two-hour volunteer shift per week.
Current shift needs: Mornings through the week - flexible start time
Monday morning, Tuesday morning, Thursday afternoon, Sunday afternoon
