Our goal is to create excitement & enthusiasm for community service and donating blood with elementary age students through learning!
Do you love spending time with kids and teaching them the importance of helping others? If you have experience working with kids, have public speaking skills, are a retired teacher, or even a teacher-in-training, then this is the right volunteer opportunity for you!
Oklahoma Blood Institute's Kids Care Program supports elementary learning needs by providing our schools with grade appropriate lesson plans that support community service engagement. A Kids Care Instructor will work with Institute account consultants & school representatives to execute lesson plans & activities with groups of children to support parent & adult recruitment to donate blood.
- Fulfill scheduled commitment as school guest speaker or assistant in designated presentation
- Present educational information & conduct lessons/activities
- Supervise elementary aged children for a short time
- Assist with distribution of giveaway thank you items and student recruitment tools

Description
The Oklahoma Blood Institute is commited to the health of Oklahomans. For patients needing blood, it will be available and safety tested for transfusion. For blood donors, the Oklahoma Blood Institute performs a health screening and will recommend a consultation with the donor's private physician if screening results are of concern.
Oklahoma Blood Institute provides every drop of blood needed by patients in more than 150 medical facilities across the state. It is the ninth largest, non-profit blood center in America.
Annually, more than 200,000 donations are given by generous Oklahomans. Oklahoma Blood Institute employs nearly 700 staff and works with an estimated 1,000 volunteers and 2,600 drive coordinators to meet the medical needs of fellow Oklahomans - providing the life saving gift of blood in almost 90% of the states medical facilities.
