Retail Store Donation Program Drivers and Helpers - Our Food Rescue program, which saves thousands of pounds of food each year, depends on dedicated volunteers. You’ll be driving one of our trucks to participating grocery stores to collect that otherwise may be thrown away. Must have the ability to lift 40 lbs. Must have valid driver’s license. A special driving classification, such as CDL, is generally not required.
Opportunity hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 12:00 pm

Description
Central Illinois Foodbank, established in 1982 by a coalition of churches, distributes over 8.5 million pounds of food annually to over 150 food pantries, soup kitchens, residential programs and after-school programs in a 21 county region. Central Illinois Foodbank is a member of Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization, and is a United Way certified agency.
Central Illinois Foodbank currently operates a 56,000 square foot distribution facility located in Springfield, Illinois. Central Illinois Foodbank is also proud to operate the Kids Cafe program with Springfield Urban League. Kids Cafe is a nation-wide program through Feeding America that feeds children a hot, nutritious meal in a safe environment.
