Tinker Tank information:

  • Here at Pacific Science Center are seeking creative adult volunteers who share a passion for making things, tinkering with objects, building with mechanical parts, or experimenting with electronics. This position allows creativity to help facilitate inside Tinker Tank, a space which aims to inspire visitors to explore new ideas through hands-on design experiences - using their hands, tools, and imaginations! As a Facilitator volunteers play you will play a crucial role in the exploration process as you help people innovate and creatively solve problems.


  • Work directly/interact with visitors of all ages: with children, families, and the general public
  • Facilitate open-ended maker activities inside Tinker Tank
  • Prep activity materials
  • Welcome visitors and assist in providing directions to specific locations and exhibits
  • Attend and contribute during periodic Tinker Tank training and planning meetings to assist visitors to providing specific details about the exhibit.


  • Enjoy interacting with children, families and the general public
  • Passion for making things through robotic, electronic, metal working, wood working, sewing or arts and crafts and an enthusiasm for learning new skills
  • Ability to exercise creative judgments and flexibility when it comes to difficult situations that may arise during the event
  • Excellent oral communications: present a profession manner and present personal appearance and hygiene and smiling
