ORGANIZATION: DESERT HARBOR DOBERMAN RESCUE OF AZ

A key part of our comprehensive application process is visiting the applicant in their home. This happens after the application is submitted and the applicant has gone through our Phone Interview. The goal of the home visit is to ensure the applicant lives in a positive environment for a Doberman. This is a low key visit with the prospective adopter, not a formal "home inspection". You will be provided training and a guide for Home Visits. We are looking for someone who will make a commitment to learn about and be involved with our organization and mission and represent us with potential adopters.

About DESERT HARBOR DOBERMAN RESCUE OF AZ

Location:

2844 E WELDON AVE, PHOENIX, AZ 85016, US

Mission Statement

One; to rescue placeable purebred Doberman Pinschers in Arizona, evaluate and treat them, and place them in suitable, qualified, and loving forever homes. Two; to educate the public about our breed and about living with a Doberman.

Description

Our goal is to place fundamentally sound Dobermans in loving homes that fit their personalities. This begins with our Doberman intake process.

First, we work closely with shelter staff or the surrendering owner to obtain history, medical records, and behavior/temperament assessments. We do not take in any Doberman with a known history of known bites or aggression. Next, we provide all our Dobermans with an extensive medical intake exam. Finally, our Dobermans live in a foster home for a minimum of two weeks. There our volunteers can observe behavior, temperament, and habits. This allows us to understand each Doberman’s needs and quirks to ensure a successful placement. Our intake process is patient and thorough to promote the best outcomes possible.

Our application procedures exist to ensure that the people who adopt from us are qualified, committed, and capable Doberman adopters. Our objective is to find each Doberman a loving, safe, and secure forever home that is well suited to his or her unique disposition, habits, and needs. To achieve that objective, we ask our adopters to participate actively in the process by honestly, frankly, and candidly representing their expectations, wishes, limitations, and lifestyle.
