PSCH-PK Volunteer Engagement Services are based on our belief in the value and role that volunteers perform in carrying out our mission. Our mission reinforces our goal "to empower individuals and families with diverse needs to realize their full potential as they achieve their life goals, guided by the principles of independence, wellness, safety and recovery".

PSCH-PK volunteers are critical to the delivery of services to our consumers. Your skills and connections with the community through business and personal affiliations can make a difference in the lives of others in creative and meaningful ways.

PSCH and Pederson-Krag Network is seeking reliable and competent volunteers to provide support to our staff for weekdays, after school , and weekend programs serving people with special needs, mental illness and addiction.

We have the ability to create a wide range of opportunities, both short and long-term, to meet volunteers’ needs, interests, and availability. We give flexibility to scheduling your volunteer activities, whether it’s a few hours a week or one day a month. We serve individuals and families who represent a diverse array of populations including, youth; homeless families and those with mental, developmental, physical, and emotional challenges.

We can show you how!

Mission Statement

To offer a continuum of out-patient, community and school based mental health and addiction recovery services; and to provide quality services to children, adults and families in a manner that fosters dignity and respect and empowers individuals to become full participants in their own recovery and independent members of the community.

Description

The Pederson-Krag Center was founded in 1957 by Dr. Geraldine Pederson-Krag, a well-known and respected psychiatrist residing and practicing in Suffolk County. Dr. Pederson-Krag having identified a serious need within the community met with a group of her colleagues to discuss the issue of providing affordable quality services for people with mental health problems who were unable to afford private care.

As the clinic grew, it necessitated several moves to different sites to accommodate the expansion. We currently have six facilities throughout Suffolk County and provide a full continuum of care to approximately 4,500 individuals currently enrolled in one or more of our twenty-six programs.
