Volunteers are needed each day for morning and evening animal care and barn cleaning shifts. Morning shifts start at approximately 7am and evening shifts at 5pm. Shift duties include mucking, water, moving of feed and hay and supplies, feeding horses, pigs, sheep, goats and other resident animals. Some handling of horses and other residents. Training provided. Opportunity to expand skills and move up in the organization! Community service hours for most Maryland public and private schools can be obtained with us. We have many geriatric and special needs animals in residence so veterinary assistant/tech/doctor experience is a plus! This is a great opportunity for retirees and military veterans and their families.

Our mission is to provide quality, life-long care for horses/ponies/small farm animals who are unwanted/neglected and/or have special needs and to develop and offer outreach programs utilizing our resident equines that provide enriching and life changing opportunities for people who might not otherwise have the chance to experience horses in a supportive, educational environment for humans and animals alike.
Description
We are a small, volunteer based organization that currently provides a permanent home for 16 equines, 2 goats, 2 pot bellied pigs, 2 sheep and 1 feisty feline. Our sanctuary program is supported by our educational and outreach opportunities, some of which are fee based. We strive to offer interactive opportunities for the members of our community with programs offering hands on animal care, urban agriculture and more! Our residents work with children and adults of all ages and a range of abilities. We strive to provide an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome and involved to better the lives of our residents and our community.
