Trained volunteers are effective volunteers. During a disaster, The Salvation Army relies upon trained disaster workers to coordinate emergency relief operations and deliver fast, efficient service to disaster survivors. The Salvation Army's national disaster training program includes courses developed by The Salvation Army and training certified by other partner organizations whose technical expertise is nationally recognized in a given field

The Salvation Army is on the front lines during emergencies and disasters, and we need our Nation's Capital to be prepared. Consider joining our Emergency and Disaster Services Volunteer Team and get trained to be deployed during local or national disasters.

On this day, we will have a basic level course so new volunteers can join us and we can re-engage with currently trained Emergency and Disaster Services volunteers as well. This is the first of a short series of trainings held over the summer to become certified. We will also offer our child abuse recognition and safety course.

We will provide a lunch for all participants as well as a basic, entry-level training.
