Our projects runs throughout the year so you can volunteer with us any time of the year that is suitable for you, for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of one year, all we need is people with the passion and wiliness to help people who are less fortunate than themselves. You need to send us your application at least three weeks before your intended trip to Ghana to volunteer with us. This will give us enough time to send you all the necessary document and information you will need for your visa and make arrangement for your airport pick-up.
In Ghana, most rural communities lack sufficient infrastructure, as the inadequate sanitation and educational facilities directly impede development, hygiene, and progress. Toilets, school buildings, libraries, and potable drinking water are missing in many of our neighboring communities. For over nine years Dream Africa Care Foundation has been connecting international volunteers and committed rural communities to solve these issues. As a Construction Volunteer you can empower rural growth by working side-by-side with local villagers on the project itself! Digging, mixing sand and cement, carrying rocks and bricks, fetching water, painting, and bricklaying are a few of the duties you can take on, as you’re led by, and work with, skilled workers from the village who are also volunteering their time and energy. This experience can provide you with a new perspective of the massive obstacles that prevent growth in these rural communities, where resources are inaccessible and household incomes are low. Participating in the hands-on construction of fundamental infrastructure improves hygiene, education, and overall well-being. We welcome your interest to join our efforts to improve these conditions and educate Ghana’s youth about the mutual benefits of volunteerism!.
you may also help with landscaping the surrounding area, painting local schools, and renovating classrooms. In many areas of Ghana, thousands of families live in inadequate accommodation and children attend school in crumbling buildings. Our construction project allows them to move to new, better quality homes and for the children to receive an education in secure, new classrooms.
The buildings are usually made from mud bricks that are produced by using a press, some mud and water, and then left to harden in the sun. Volunteers help in this process and also with building walls, plastering, and painting. Each building takes an average of a month to construct. Building work takes place early in the morning and late in the afternoon to avoid the hot midday sun, so you'll have plenty of time to get involved in Ghanaian life. Many volunteers immerse themselves in the local community by helping around the kindergarten class or playing soccer with some of the school children once the building work has finished for the day.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in a rural project and become an integral part of the local community. Our full time coordinators live nearby and visit the placements regularly, so you'll always have full support from Dream Africa Care Foundation. This project is available for less than a month if you don't have time to join us for a month or more.
