If you're passionate about education and eager to engage with children in an educational setting, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Milwaukee Public Schools is the largest public school district in Wisconsin. We're preparing for Summer Academy, and we need your help! Volunteer as a Summer Academy General Classroom Assistant and provide in-class supplemental support to students. As a Summer Academy General Classroom Assistant, individuals have an opportunity to instill a life-long passion for learning in students. In addition, Summer Academy General Classroom Assistants can observe a classroom in action and gain valuable classroom experience while giving back to the community.
Volunteers will complete a wide range of duties, which will likely vary from day to day. Duties may include, but are not limited to, assisting within the classroom while the teacher is giving the core lesson, working with small groups of students within the classroom and focusing on one or two students to provide additional support.
Volunteers must be comfortable taking initiative when working with small groups of students or with individual students. Experience in a classroom setting or experience working with children is preferred but not required.
Volunteers are expected to commit a minimum of two hours a week between June 28th and July 28th.
Deadline to apply is June 1, 2017.
This opportunity is available for high school students.
