We are looking for a volunteer computer tutor to work one-on-one with individuals with cognitive impairment or TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) who are learning how to use the computer. At this time, we are particularly looking for someone with the skills to work with a computer student who has past experience in writing code from several decades ago, and who is very interested in learning about contemporary coding. We need someone who can support him in his general computer skills and also guide him in the process of writing code. It is important that this volunteer has patience and creativity to work with individuals with differing cognitive abilities. By volunteering for this position you will be helping people with disabilities connect to technological resources that can enhance their quality of life and offer them exciting new opportunities. Often times people with disabilities live in social isolation, and may feel overwhelmed by the task of navigating unfamiliar technology. You can be the one to help them through this process!
