One of our most important jobs at the market, you would be the welcoming face at the Market Information booth. Tasks include greeting customers and hand out event flyers to customers, processing customers’ Credit/EBT card transactions, collecting tokens from vendors, and other general customer service*. This is a great opportunity if you are looking to gain an inside experience into how the farmers market is run.
*Our market accepts payment from EBT/SNAP (Federal Food Assistance) cards as well as Credit Debit cards in an effort to be accessible to everyone in our community. Customers pay vendors though the use of wooden tokens and market bucks. Training will be provided on these programs at our market.
Skills Needed: Spanish speaking volunteers preferred as we have many Latino customers who attend the market. Ability to professionally represent the market at all times, like engaging customers and new visitors to the market, ability to learn wireless machine transactions as well as EBT Market Buck Initiative and Credit/Debit Token programs (training will be provided onsite at the market).
Commitment: 3 hours (9am-12pm on Saturdays) once a month or more depending on your interest.
