ORGANIZATION: Operation HOPE

HOPE Business in a Box Academies is Operation HOPE’s national initiative to bring positive business role models into underserved communities and harness the economic energy of the communities’ youth. The goal of the initiative is to reconnect the power of education to the power of aspiration to inspire and equip the youth with the proper tools to pursue their dreams as entrepreneurs.

You can be a part of this initiative by sharing your professional expertise with our students and young entrepreneurs! We have a number of volunteer opportunities for our HOPE Business in a Box Academies.

1. Become an Entrepreneurship Presenter and be trained to teach our four-session entrepreneurship curriculum in local schools (1-6 hour commitment)

2. Become a Judge for our Pitch Events and help select the next HOPE Young Entrepreneur (1-2 hour commitment)

3. Become a Business Role Model and mentor one of our HOPE Young Entrepreneurs as they prepare a business plan and funding request to receive a startup micro-grant from HOPE and launch their business (10 hour commitment)

Operation HOPE is a for-purpose organization working to disrupt poverty and empower inclusion for low and moderate-income youth and adults.

Description

We are a volunteer-driven, community-oriented organization that thrives on inspiring students to take better control of their financial future. As a volunteer you would be a strong community role model and it would only take up a small portion of your time. We will meet for approximately 2 hours for a presenter training to cover the ins and outs of how to teach the banking, savings & investing and credit classes. After that we will provide you with all the resources and knowledge you need to teach at designated schools within your community. You only to commit to teach at days and times that fit your schedule.

Our programs are enhanced by the career experience and personal knowledge of our volunteer teachers, many of whom work in or are retired from the finance, insurance or education industry. Our program offers you a rewarding way to give back to your community in a fun and easy way. We can only do this with your support so we encourage you to contact us with questions and comments regarding how you can become part of the Operation HOPE team!
