ORGANIZATION: Ceres Community Project

If you are looking for an opportunity to socialize and connect with other volunteers, while supporting your community this might be the perfect place for you. At the core of our program, is the food. We create healthy, nutrition packed recipes to be delivered to our clients. Our food is packed in reusable containers (Snapware) that is returned to us the following week to be filled with another delicious meal. Making sure our containers are super clean is very important. Container volunteers unpack all the plastic containers that are returned by our clients. Then they prepare the containers to be sterilized. Next they dry the containers, make sure they are labeled and stack them on racks for their next use. Being a part of this team is a great way to give back to our community and support the mission of Ceres. Container Team volunteers must have a Food Safety certificate to began working in our kitchen.
This opportunity is available 9am - 11am Tuesday and Friday at our Sebastopol kitchen.
And is also available every Tuesday at our Santa Rosa kitchen.

Description

Ceres Community Project began in a church kitchen in March 2007 with a simple idea: teach teens about cooking and eating healthy food by having them serve as volunteer chefs preparing nourishing meals for people dealing with cancer. Over the past 14 years we've learned that the benefits for both teens and the clients they cook for are profound and long-lasting. Today, Ceres operates two kitchens in Sonoma County and one third in neighboring Marin, all in California. Ceres mission is to build healthy communities by restoring whole, local and organic food to its place as the foundation of health, and by creating heart-centered ways for people to connect themselves, others and the earth.
