About

The more you learn about the dying process, the fears you may have about death will dissipate and you realize that like birth, death is a natural part of life. We are recruiting volunteers willing to sit with a patient at their bedside while they are transitioning from life to death, or "actively dying", the last 24-48 hours of life. The volunteer will be specially trained to provide presence, companionship, and comfort for patients who have little or no family members to be with them when they are dying. You would volunteer for a shift of at least 2 hours, but no more than 6. Basic Patient Volunteer training is a prerequisite (8-10 hours) and the training to be a Compassionate Companion is about 3 hours. If you would like to learn more about this program and consider becoming a Compassionate Companion Volunteer, please call the Volunteer Coordinator at 440-942-8490.
