Wildlife Care Assistants support professional Rehabilitators in the daily care of wildlife patients. WCAs may gain experience in species identification and natural history, proper husbandry techniques, and basic animal handling.

Available Year-round!


  • Set up and clean animal enclosures
  • Prepare diets (includes dead prey)
  • Laundry, dishes and general cleaning
  • Hand feed infant mammals (Spring and Summer)
  • Other tasks as required (e.g. grounds keeping, pressure washing)

Opportunities for Advancement

  • Dedicated and experienced volunteers may be given the opportunity to learn advanced animal handling and medical skills


  • WCA shifts are available every day of the week:
    • 8:00am-1:00pm
    • 1:00pm-6:00pm
    • 6:00pm-10:00pm (April 1-September 30)

Requirements & Commitment

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • One five-hour shift per week for 6 months
  • Volunteers must participate in the same shift every week
