Mission Statement
The Houston Wellness Project is a nonprofit organization that strives to empower all individuals to make positive healthy lifestyle choices by providing accessible wellness education and programming.
Description
Co-founded in 2011 by Azita Erfani and Kelly Ramey, The Houston Wellness Project is a 501(c)(3) organization focused on health and wellness. Erfani and Ramey formed the organization in response to a
growing need for improved community access to wellness programming.
Wellness is more than just a growing trend in our society.
Recent studies report that engaging in wellness activities leads to better mental health, increased self
satisfaction and more productive communities. Many corporations have implemented employee wellness
programs, providing further incentive for employees. In return, these company’s have seen decreased
healthcare costs, fewer sick days taken and reduced injuries within their staff.
But what about everyone else?
Wellness programs are still considered a luxury, and high costs for yoga punch cards, gym memberships and entry fees for 5Ks can keep them out of the reach of a large portion of the community. But being healthy shouldn’t be limited to those who can afford it.
This is where the Houston Wellness Project comes in.
