ORGANIZATION: LGBT National Help Center (SF, CA Office)

Are you a good listener? Are you caring? Do you want to help the LGBTQIA+ community nationwide?

The LGBT National Youth Talkline provides vital peer-support, community connections and resource information to people with questions regarding sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Our volunteers provides one-to-one peer support that help youths with coming-out issues, safer-sex information, school bullying, family concerns, relationship problems and much more.

We are looking for LGBTQIA+ volunteers ages 18 and over.

The LGBT National Youth Talkline is a program of the LGBT National Help Center. We are a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing peer-counseling, information, and local resources directly through our toll-free telephone number at 1-800-246-7743. Our mission is to help end the isolation and fear that many young people who question their sexuality and/or gender identity go through.

Volunteer position is remote and requires having a quiet and private space to take calls along with reliable internet access.

While we have available shifts throughout the week, high priority will go to those available to train during the week 1- 3 pm pacific or 3 - 5 pm pacific. (training is once a week, you do not need to be available every day during this time. Also this time does not to be your permanent shift, only when you are available to train)

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 hour shifts a week for at least 12 months once training is complete.
  • Must be 18 years old or over and identify as LGBTQIA+ . Remote volunteers need to have a secure and quiet place to work as calls are confidential. System requirements: computer with stable internet.
