This is a fascinating opportunity that involves mentoring a newly formed ethnic musical group (Orchestra/band/choir). You get to mentor motivated kids (grade 7-12), suggest music for them to play and coach them in a friendly and flexible setting.
The kids received at least 2 years of music education through the public school system and are now attempting to form a weekend youth music group
The end objective of this role is to:
Mentor the kids to play simple world classical music pieces
Help the kids eventually play ethnic Sudanese sheet music.
Coach the kids perform at select community events
The ideal candidate is open to working with kids, minorities and ethnic music.
