Individuals have the opportunity to write and research articles for MCHS, which would be published in history columns in the Woodstock Independent newspaper, our quarterly Tracer publication, or the all digital McHenry County Living magazine! This is a great opportunity for anyone of any age - whether you are just getting started in your career or just want to dabble in something new! Best of all, this can be done from the comfort of your own home!

Mission Statement

We engage and educate current and future generations by preserving and sharing McHenry County history.

Description

Established in 1963, our members, staff, and volunteers have a 60-year-plus record rich in preservation, education, and entertainment contributions to McHenry County.

We create learning experiences and events. We focus on local culture, organization, and family history. We collect and care for notable artifacts. We participate in the activities of like-minded organizations throughout McHenry County.

Besides operating the museum, the Society plaques historic sites and structures, holds adult programs and arranges various school and adult group tours.
