Program Committee Member - Program Development

Reporting to the Program Director, Program Committee Members collaboratively research, review, and develop new programs, as well as support the assessment and continuous improvement of existing programs. Committee members work closely with EKARI Foundation’s Executive Director and Malawi In-Country Director to identify and achieve overall goals for program development and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute expertise related to educational programming or sustainable livelihoods programming to help design effective, empowering programs for students and communities

  • Develop further knowledge of educational programming and/or sustainable livelihoods programming contextualized to the Phalombe district of Malawi

  • Review program proposals generated by students and staff in Malawi

  • Provide input on the design of new programs

  • Regularly review and analyze assessments of program effectiveness

  • Make recommendations for continuous improvement of programs based on assessment data

  • Communicate program effectiveness and ongoing improvement to potential donors, current donors, and other stakeholders

  • Collaborate with Program Director, committee members, executive director, and staff and students in Malawi

  • Commitment to Ekari Foundation’s mission

  • Cultural competency - self-awareness, openness, and commitment to social justice

  • Background in or passion for education or community development

  • Creative and critical thinking skills

  • Experience with or interest in assessment and continuous improvement

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting

  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful

  • Strong computer skills

Time Commitment

This position requires a commitment of 3 - 5 hours per week for a minimum of one year. We offer a lot of flexibility in when and how you complete those hours and many of the tasks and responsibilities can be done remotely, working online, at a time that is convenient for you. Program Committee members attend a quarterly meeting focused solely on the committee’s work. Every committee member is invited to attend monthly board of directors meetings.

Compensation

This is a volunteer position. There will be no financial compensation. Our organization is 100% volunteer run, excluding staff in Malawi and our Executive Director.
