Play a key role in our fundraising efforts by sorting donated books and preparing them for sale. We need physically able people who can bend, handle books, and carry small groups of them to book shelves. After initial training, you'll judge if the book is in good enough condition before determining its category and placing it in the holding area or on the shelves for book buying clients. Our book sorting and sales areas are within the Main Library. We're looking for a commitment of two to three hours on any one day and during times when the library is open. For our monthly "Grab-a-Bag" sale on the first Wednesday of the month, we need folks to fill up book carts on Tuesday afternoons; others can wheel those into the sales area by 10 am, when the sale starts. Our used, inexpensive books encourage reading on the part of community residents. Additionally, we are in need of volunteers who can design posters, memes and provide content for pamphlets/newsletters to encourage membership as well as attendance at events.

Mission Statement
Enabling lifelong learning and community enrichment by supporting Richmond Public Library programs.
Description
For more than thirty years, the Friends of the Richmond Public Library organization has faithfully sponsored library programs for kids, teens and adults. These build childhood literacy, teenage preparation for college and reading for a lifetime. Many programs, like summer reading and homework help, boost kids' chances for productive lives. Thousands of Richmond residents benefit. Our non-profit, 100% volunteer organization raises funds through book sales, memberships and donations.
We’re seeking energetic volunteers to bolster our efforts. Specialized activities include book sorting and sales, which are a critical way that we raise funds. We also are looking for people to help with writing, crafting publicity and social media postings. Come join our team, give back to your community and help Richmond’s future! Thank you.
