826CHI is hiring a yearlong Communications Coordinator through AmeriCorps VISTA.

826CHI is a non-profit creative writing, tutoring, and publishing center in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. Part of a nationally-award winning network of writing centers, we offer FREE literary arts and publishing opportunities to Chicago youth, and help teachers inspire their students to write.

The Communications Coordinator supports 826CHI's messaging across a wide range of platforms, ultimately increasing volunteer and donor engagement while shining a light on the creative work of our magnificent student-authors. In collaboration with the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator will implement 15+ individual communications campaigns and deepen the representation of each of our 5 core programs while researching opportunities to broaden our reach to new audiences across the city of Chicago.

Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator is required, as are impeccable written communication skills, a sharp sense of humor, a collaborative spirit, and a keen understanding of and commitment to 826CHI's voice and mission. This position requires the ability to work independently, maintain flexibility and positivity, and to learn new tasks and take on special projects with ease.
