Provide support to patients with a life expectancy of 6 months or less for up to 4 hours per week. Opportunities include:

  • Companionship for patients (talking, reading, playing games, etc.)
  • Caregiver relief
  • Hand massage (training provided)
  • Light housekeeping (vacuuming, dusting, meal prep)
  • Running errands

Patients are located in their private home and facilities throughout the Twin Cities south metro area. You will be strategically matched with patients close to your home, and you get to choose which patients you want to visit. The time you spend volunteering each week is flexible and will be scheduled directly with patients and/or caregivers.

No medical experience is necessary. Health screening, background check, and training provided at no cost to you.

Description

When life expectancy is limited, Accentcare Fairview Hospice staff and volunteers will help patients and caregivers focus on improving the quality of their remaining days. Hospice provides medical, emotional, social and spiritual care. We bring these services to the familiar setting of patient's own homes whenever possible. The same kind of care may also be given at a long-term care site, a group home, an assisted living site or a residential hospice.
