Volunteer Support Group Facilitators Needed! Virtual Opportunity during COVID-19

Compass Center is accepting applications for our upcoming virtual Support Group Facilitator Training that will begin on February 2, 2022. We seek dedicated individuals with diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Support Group Facilitators at Compass Center have the opportunity to lead a variety of groups around topics such as Domestic Violence, Divorce and Separation, and Self-Esteem. Our support groups aim to provide a welcoming space for people who are going through similar experiences. Volunteer facilitators help create a safe environment to provide participants the opportunity to support each other in healing and moving forward in positive ways. Volunteers also have the opportunity to create and/or lead identity-based (such as LGBTQ) and arts-based healing groups. All groups are led by two trained facilitators and supervised by the Support Group Coordinator.

Required training sessions will be evenings. All support groups are being held virtually for an unforeseeable future due to COVID-19 but may return in-person at some point in 2022.

Preferred Characteristics and Background of Volunteer Support Group Facilitators: Spanish fluency, bachelor’s degree or higher, advocacy experience in the field of domestic violence or a similar field, ability to work independently and with others, strong communication and listening skills, cultural competence with diverse populations, previous experience participating in or leading support groups or group therapy, excellent self-care practices, and a passion for helping and supporting others.
