ORGANIZATION: NONVIOLENCE WORKS INC

  • 2 people are interested

Nonviolence Works is looking for individuals that want to make a difference through mentoring a youth in their community. Mentors are interviewed, background-checked and given an initial training. They are then matched with a mentee at a school that is convenient to the mentor, and meet weekly for one hour. Mentorship is ultimately about creating a reliable, genuine friendship with a young person. What may seem like a small act can truly have a large impact - research has shown that mentorship often significantly increases not only academic performance, but also emotional health as well.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to inspire, train and empower all people to lead lives of nonviolence.

Description

NonviolenceWorks started off as Men Engaged in Nonviolence 11 years ago with a small male based mentorship and group program that quickly grew to include female programs. TaosMEN/TaosWIN, as it was called at the time, saw the need for clinical programing in schools and launched its new name NONVIOLENCE WORKS, INC to include the base of its Mission Statement and to state simply that 'Nonviolence Works" in all aspects of life.

Nonviolence Works is looking for men and women that are interested in truly making a difference in their community through mentoring a youth for one hour a week. Mentorship is ultimately about creating a reliable, genuine friendship with a young person. What may seem like a small act can truly have a large impact - research has shown that mentorship often significantly increases not only academic performance, but also emotional health as well.
