Mission Statement
Mission Statement: Friends of Jupiter Beach is a 501 (c)(3) community organization whose goal is to support and maintain environmentally healthy, clean, and dog friendly beaches in Jupiter, Florida.
Description
Founded in 1994, Friends of Jupiter Beach is a 501(c)3 community organization whose goal is to support and maintain an environmentally healthy, clean, and dog friendly beaches in Jupiter through volunteerism and education. Volunteers from every facet of the community clean a 2.5 mile span of beach from north of the Juno Beach Pier to Carlin Park in Jupiter each month. Since the group began tracking in 2006, we have collected and saved more than 54,000 lbs. of garbage and recyclables from the landfill. FJB sends out a monthly e-newsletter, participates in civic events, and uses the electronic media to spread its environmental message. In addition, FJB provides 400,000 dog bags a year, and maintains the boxes in which they are contained for use by the beach-going public at 35 dog bag stations along Jupiter Beach. FJB has formed a Young Friends of Jupiter Beach group to engage middle and high school students and teach them good stewardship of the environment. A recent study shows that out of county visitors to north county beaches spend $70 million dollars a year on front line services alone.
