Local art nonprofit, Arts for Humanity!, is seeking a street chalk artist to be our lead artist for this year’s I Madonnari. At the annual I Madonnari Festival talented street painters transform the Santa Barbara Mission plaza using pastels on pavement to create 150 vibrant, colorful, large-scale images. Each year, Arts for Humanity! creates a Marc Chagall image infused with Santa Barbara flare.

Arts for Humanity! Mission:

Founded in 1997, Arts for Humanity! empowers low income at-risk youth, people with disabilities, and the elderly through participatory performing and visual arts programs. In partnership with social service agencies throughout Santa Barbara County, we bring opportunities in the creative arts directly to marginalized community members. Facilitated by local artists and trained college interns, our transformational arts programs cultivate creativity and give a voice to the under-served while bridging generational, social, and economic divides. Arts for Humanity! works to make the arts accessible to all as we celebrate both our differences and our commonality through the power and beauty of the arts.

Dates: May 26-May 28

Time: Start in the morning Saturday May 26, this is an all-day event and continue through the weekend or until completed

Arts for Humanity! art interns will be available to assist with the painting.
