Who We Are

We are a non-profit organization that works with youth living with the virus HIV/AIDS. We provide programs and activities to boost those entering into our program with mental, Physical and social wellbeing as well social health.

Our Mission:

The mission of H.Y.P.E. is to strive to empower, educate, support, and train all youth and young adults (5-30 years old) living with HIV/AIDS to become active leaders, so they will encourage and empower others living with the virus with a positive influence to transform societal stigmas as well increase public awareness of HIV/AIDS especially for children, youth, and young adults.

Background

Our organization was crated from inspiration, love and compassion. The founder and Executive Director of H.Y.P.E. to Empower Inc. who created this organization at the age of 22 now 24, because he was inspired through issues in his own life. As a youth living with HIV/AIDS he knew something had to be done. Seeing the ever increasing number of youth affected by the disease, he made it his life’s mission to do his part in working with children, youth, and young adults living with HIV/AIDS.

Our Need

We are in phase two of developmental, and in need of volunteers who are will and able and willing, to help strengthen the structure of our organization.

Brief description of volunteer details.

H.Y.P.E.’s Social Program Coordinator will create, build and strengthen programs and initiatives focusing on Social initiatives that center on building understanding and awareness in regards to health (Self-awareness - self-esteem, self-worth, friendships and bonds; physical - nutrition, and exercise, biological) and combating social stigmas.

H.Y.P.E.’s Health Program Coordinator will create, build and strengthen programs and initiatives the help individuals entering our program newly diagnosed (Understanding pros/cons disclosure, highs & lows, relationships, and basics) regarding HIV.

H.Y.P.E.s Education Program Coordinator will create and build and strengthen programs and initiatives support our members to pursue their desired educational and career pathways by giving them the resources to grow their skills and knowledges through various training programs including: job readiness (mock interviews, dress for success, money management, resume building, computer skills); GED training, tutoring, and testing services; high school diploma completion through national and regional accreditation; and individualized career skills based assistance.

H.Y.P.E.’s Social Work Program Coordinator will create, build and strengthen programs that are centered around larger circumstantial factors (Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS) that have an impact on the emotional security and safety of individuals while creating competence of systems (?) and policies that impact and support the well-being of those entering H.Y.P.E. to Empower.

Brief description of Program Coordinator Skills and Specifications

  • Good amount of knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles. (Does not haft to be an expert)
  • Ability to maintain good relationship with individuals you come in contact with (Board, Sponsors, Partners etc.)
  • Great organizational skills and responsible individual.
  • Great coordination abilities.
  • Great written and oral skills

Mission Statement

MISSION STATMENT Championing programming that empowers HIV positive youth to succeed individually and as leaders to advocate for the rights of the HIV positive community. VISION STATEMENT We envision empowered youth who are financially sustainable, lead a healthy lifestyle and have the education and leadership skills to actively lead an HIV positive community that is able to support and advocate not only for the HIV community but also educate society as a whole on HIV prevention, facts, and misnomers.

Description

About our founder:
On March 28, 2010, on his eighteenth birthday, Robert was diagnosed with AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). In December of the same year, he was also diagnosed with Cancer. Despite these lives changing events, Robert prevailed. With much prayer and strong will he beat cancer and became HIV undetectable (controlled).

After three years of living with the virus, Robert formed his own organization, HIV Positive Youth That Pledge to Empower Themselves and Others or (H.Y.P.E). H.Y.P.E was created from inspiration, love, and compassion.


About H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc.:

H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc. aims to transform the lives of children, youth, young adults, families, and communities living with HIV. H.Y.P.E.’s targeted population are HIV positive children, youth, and young adults between the ages of 13-30 years old, and their families affected by HIV.

Our comprehensive and relevant inactivates involve community services, HIV-education, academic education, counseling, medical, social, and professional support, and self and social empowerment.

In addition to our direct services for HIV positive individuals and communities, we also aim to provide our skills and expertise to persons, groups, organizations, and businesses who wish to utilize the HYPE model in targeting areas where they wish to make a difference.
