The Alum Rock library is seeking a committed volunteer to lead a basic computer skills assistance program. This would be a drop-in program for our patrons and would likely attract anywhere from 0-5 patrons per session; however, if you'd like to lead a more structured class, we could also make that work. Our patrons' needs are very basic. They generally seek assistance with turning on the computer, logging into accounts (email, social media), using the mouse/keyboard, creating/saving/editing documents, downloading documents from email, printing and other very basic skills. Librarians would provide support materials and handouts to help you help our patrons.
About you:
Knowledge of basic computer functions including use of Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet for browsing and searching. Interest in helping others. Second language skills (Spanish or Vietnamese) would be a huge bonus but not required.
