This stipend eligible position is for the 2017-2018 school year. Provides comprehensive planning services for families to create a safe, healthy and happy future for their family member with a disability. Utilizes person centered thinking skills/tools to create a plan supporting the person’s quality of life; includes formal and informal supports and services with focus on employment, housing, community life, well-being, legal and financial. Position provides administrative, logistical, programmatic, customer and evaluative support. Work is conducted in collaboration and under supervision of Arc Program staff. Specific duties include:
Expand knowledge and expertise of person centered skills and tools and their practical application
Review internal training planning services manual; update processes & resources to support team’s knowledge and capacity to support individuals and families engaged with planning services
Support families and individuals engaged in the planning process, development of the Planning Guide, exploration and network planning meetings, transcribing notes, drafting lifelong support plans
Schedule annual reviews of client comprehensive plan; meeting logistics, transcribing notes for updates, ensure necessary documents are reviewed and signed annually (i.e., Consent for Release of Information, HIPPA, Contract)
Support students (14-21) and their families engaged in Transition Vision Project (TVP) including transition planning guide, exploration and network planning meeting. Create a graphic illustration resource manual supporting TVP and person centered planning with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Update and expand resource list on formal and informal services and supports for community life, recreation, leisure, faith communities, housing and health care
Support and implement marketing strategies for Arc’s planning services to meet annual work plan goals & objectives; includes presentation materials for parents/caregivers, professionals and self-advocates
Schedule and/or lead Arc overview, Person Centered Thinking and Planning overview to interested audiences
Other administrative support duties and/or temporary assignments as requested by supervisor
Position is Sept 2017 - May 2018. Must be available to intern 10-14 hours a week. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. An exit interview will also be conducted to gauge intern experience and to make recommendations for improvement. Includes a stipend of $1000 per term or the utilization of work study if eligible.
